Life can change very quickly.
Over the past few days I’ve gone from a routine dialysis session to an unexpected cardiac admission with atrial flutter, a transfer by blue-light ambulance to Tallaght University Hospital, and dialysis in ICU.
Thankfully, medication has now brought my heart back towards its usual rhythm, and I’m being closely monitored while the team investigates what happened. Tomorrow brings another dialysis session and an echocardiogram.
As someone living with HIV since 2009, I’ve learned that living well with a long-term condition doesn’t make you immune from new health challenges. It does, however, teach you how to work alongside healthcare professionals, ask questions, and take one day at a time.
I’m grateful for the excellent care I’ve received, for Andrew’s love and support, and for the many messages and prayers that have sustained me over the last few days.
One step at a time.
